Job Summary and Qualifications
The Senior Echocardiographic Technologist reports directly to the Supervisor, Non-Invasive Cardiology, and utilizes specialized technology, knowledge and skills to perform tests providing diagnostic data of the patient’s cardiovascular system. These tests are performed at the order of qualified physicians. Echocardiographic technology is a field recognized by the American Medical Association and the Registered Technologist is recognized as being capable of performing examinations without direct physician supervision.
The technologist, through subjective and/or recording of data, proceeds with the established methodology of diagnostic examinations, creating a foundation from which a correct anatomic and physiological diagnosis can be developed for the individual patient when compared with the physician’s clinical diagnosis
The Senior Echocardiographic Technologist has various administrative duties regarding equipment selection, implementing techniques and informing the public, physicians, etc., of new advances in the field.
What qualifications you will need:
- HS Diploma or GED
- Two years college and Registered Echocardiographic Technologist Certificate
- Basic Cardiac Life Support Certification
- (RCS) Registered Cardiac Sonographer
- Minimum 4 years experience required in cardiac echocardiography field
