Job Summary and Qualifications

The Director of Analytics is responsible for the strategic direction and execution of high quality, timely analysis of enterprise Patient Logistic Center (PLC) operations to stakeholders at all levels of the company. He/she is responsible for overseeing the creation and management of reports/reporting to support financial analysis, evaluate strategic initiatives, and drive departmental process improvements. He/she helps manage a team of analysts and provides voice in setting the strategic direction of analytics and business intelligence. He/she is also responsible for overseeing the quality of PLC data enterprise wide by ensuring adherence to documentation and quality standards.

What you will do in this role:

  • Provides strategic direction of data and reporting for all functions within the PLC (Transfer Centers, Behavioral Health Access & Referral Centers (ARC), Centralized Patient Placement, Medical Transportation, and Command Center expediting functions)
  • Works directly with center leadership and corporate leaders to identify strategic opportunities and participates actively in the development and monitoring of KPIs for any resulting projects.
  • Oversee the management of a suite of recurring enterprise reports (daily/weekly/monthly/etc.) to ensure stakeholders (from center leadership to enterprise Senior Leadership) have robust, timely, and accurate data to drive strategic decision making and monitor departmental performance.
  • Provides strategic direction on the development of enterprise analytics and business intelligence tools
  • Systematically/independently identifies critical enterprise trends and communicates them proactively to corporate leadership and enterprise senior leaders, developing additional reports/tools to support further analysis as needed and to support facility and service line requirements.
  • Maintains a working knowledge of departmental/division/enterprise/industry strategic priorities to inform and focus their analysis.
  • Serves as the primary corporate liaison between other analytics departments to ensure accurate use of transfer data and develop cross-departmental reporting tools as appropriate.
  • Educates/trains stakeholders on all reports, data tools and business intelligence resources as needed.
  • Leads efforts related to productivity and performance reporting, partnering with leadership at all levels to highlight key trends and opportunity areas.
  • Provides day-to-day management function over team comprised of Business Analysts, BI Developers, and Database Architects.
  • Works with center leadership to recruit, interview, select, and hire analysts as needed
  • Assist with new analyst team members onboarding and training as well as coordinating continued training and development for existing analyst team members
  • Provides career development planning and opportunities for analyst team
  • Performs employee reviews and assessments
  • Serves as the primary administrator for departmental workflow/documentation applications. (e.g. manages access, troubleshooting, settings, and data dictionaries)
  • Works closely with leadership to ensure all departmental reporting and analysis meets enterprise standards.
  • Creates and maintains a suite of reports to monitor staff compliance with process and data standards. Partners with center leadership to address documentation quality issues
  • Provides ongoing education and training to center analysts on documentation standards.
  • Maintains an extremely high level of customer service by responding to all requests quickly and accurately.

What requirements you will need:

  • Bachelor’s degree in information management, Healthcare Information, Computing, Accounting, Mathematics, Statistics, Analytics, or related fields
  • 8+ years of data and analytics experience, including experience leading an analytics team, working within a large highly matrixed organization
  • Clear customer-service orientation, experience working directly with executive level stakeholders to provide timelines, clarify analysis objectives, and follow up to ensure all needs were met
  • Applies critical thinking to all analysis requests, proactively communicating with stakeholders if an alternate approach is recommended
  • Excellent attention to detail, with experience providing high-visibility reporting/analysis to executive level leadership
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with experience communicating directly with executive level leadership
  • Excellent time management skills, experience working independently to manage an analysis portfolio of both recurring and ad-hoc reporting across diverse recipients
  • Proven ability to manage competing deadlines and priorities with professionalism, experience in managing customer expectations and balancing requests from diverse stakeholders
  • Shows initiative and creativity, with experience using technology to reduce manual reporting tasks
  • Excellent analytical and data management skills, with experience querying and combining related data from different types of databases/systems (including SQL queries, application data exports and Excel) into a single report/analysis effort.
  • Demonstrated ability to use a combination of applications and tools to complete analysis, including but not limited to database tools (SQL, Teradata, BigQuery), analytics tools (PowerBI, Qlikview, Qliksense, Tableau), and Office applications.
  • Knowledge of generally accepted database design methodologies and querying tools (SQL, Access, Teradata, BigQuery)
  • Experience developing and maintaining dashboards and using web reporting applications
  • Advanced skill with Microsoft Office applications including Excel, PowerPoint, and Word (Additional familiarity with SharePoint, Visio, and Access preferred)
  • Expert skill in Microsoft Excel with significant experience using complex formulas, pivot tables, charts, macros/VBA, data connections/queries
  • Ability to create compelling, attractive data visualizations in PowerPoint/Excel/BI tools to highlight key findings in their analysis and create executive level summaries
  • Working knowledge of healthcare services’ volumes, financial metrics, utilization, and market demographics
  • Strong understanding of healthcare terminology in the context of healthcare business operations
