MAIL ASSISTANT

You will serve as a Mail Assistant in the Mail Facility of NAVSUP FLEET LOGISTICS CENTER JACKSONVILLE.


  • You will provide and maintain strict security and safeguards for all classifications of U.S. Mail, FEDEX, UPS, DHL, Intra Area Mail, USPS Equipment, Mail Facilities, Vehicles, and other government property at all times.
  • You will perform administrative procedures for the processing of claims, inquiries and complaints for all types of mail matters.
  • You will track mailing costs and submits information for inclusion in required financial reports.
  • You will collect, analyze, and submit information on the anticipated local impact of changes in mail management practices or implementation of new postal equipment, systems and procedures under consideration.
  • You will review completed work to see that supervisor's instruction on work sequence, procedures, methods and deadlines have been met. Refers any problems in meeting performance standards to the supervisor

Requirements

Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower grade level (GS-06) or pay band in the federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector demonstrating knowledge and experience of Federal and/or US Postal System regulations and policies in order to process all inbound and outbound mail to include various categories of mail such as registered, certified, insured, and special handling. Specialized experience also includes a practical knowledge and experience applying methods and techniques of mail management to gather, analyze and evaluate information concerning administrative functions and mail management processes in order to make recommendations to improve program processes. Examples of specialized experience include: 1. Knowledge of and skill in applying data gathering techniques, analyzing and evaluating information concerning mail management processes, drawing conclusions, and recommending appropriate action based upon review of available data. 2. Ability to maintain and complete forms, reports, files and mail related administrative matters. 3. Skills in the operations of the microcomputer data base word processing system, Microsoft office, and automated postal equipment and programs. 4. Ability to communicate clearly and effectively both orally and in writing.
